Key Accounts Manager Railways Mechanical Engineer East Rand
Responsible to Sales Manager Southern Africa with dotted line reporting to Industry Lead Africa.
Job purpose: Implement and drive the sales strategy in the rail industry within South Africa and Africa, including setting and delivering targets.
Maximise sales growth and optimise profits through effective go-to-market strategies.
Establish plans and strategies to expand the customer base in Africa, and develop and secure new direct customers.
Minimum requirements:
3-5 years proven industrial / engineering product sales experience in the rail industry.
Experience in receiving, completing, and submitting tenders.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets with a demonstrable customer focus.
Experience in establishing and developing strategic and new business.
Proven ability to drive the sales process from planning to closing.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Strong business understanding and knowledge of financial tools.
High energy levels and drive, with the ability and willingness to travel.
Value selling experience in the industrial market.
Good understanding of the rail industry in Southern Africa and Africa, with up-to-date knowledge of rail industry/products.
Ability to multitask in a high-paced environment, requiring high levels of concentration and decision-making within delegated responsibilities.
Self-motivated, capable of reacting to unpredictable operational requirements, and able to analyze data and review tenders effectively.
Extensive travel (>50%) to visit and engage with customers in the region; some time at a desk working on a computer and attending meetings.
Health and safety / exposure to risk: Occasionally exposed to risk during travel or on-site at customer locations.
Description of duties:
Identify and target key strategic accounts within the rail industry.
Continuously seek profitable business opportunities and contribute to market intelligence by maintaining up-to-date knowledge on competitors, market drivers, and external influences.
Promote the complete industrial market portfolio in the rail industry.
Develop and implement strong sales and segment growth strategies aligned with key account structures.
Optimize the total business lifecycle of offerings.
Sales funnel management: Lead negotiations for contracts, RFQs, tenders, and manage tenders/contracts.
Manage and develop relationships with rail customers and end users.
Deploy price leadership and value-based selling strategies.
Performance objectives: Achieve sales, profit, and other targets; fully utilize C4C for planning and documentation; develop profitable business.
Volume growth initiatives: Significantly grow direct rail customers and establish a clear sales funnel.
Leadership objectives: Act as a role model, drive change and innovation, challenge the status quo.
Responsible for: People, stakeholder relationships, and working within multidisciplinary and cross-border teams.
Assets: Responsible for equipment used within the work environment.
Make decisions, communicate, and escalate critical information promptly, analyze data to prioritize work, and react to operational situations efficiently.
Communication skills: Excellent presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills required to represent the organization, negotiate with customers, and influence at all levels.
Salary offer: R800K
