As our Service Technician, key roles and responsibilities will include:
- Installs, inspects, repairs, services, and upgrades equipment according to instructions.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on customer installations to ensure equipment continues to perform reliably.
- Maintains accurate service records to monitor equipment performance.
- Acts as the day-to-day interface with customers, reports faults and findings, and makes recommendations.
- Generates sales leads and provides operative quoting to the company through daily work and customer interaction.
- Engages actively with clients and ensures accurate and timely administration of relevant documentation such as service or inspection reports, timesheets, and orders.
- Communicates information on equipment problems or potential enhancements promptly to relevant persons.
- Compiles and maintains safety files as required by regulatory compliance and customer requirements.
- Performs all prescribed safety procedures, including point of work risk assessments at every job and site.
- Adheres to safety procedures on both company and customer premises.
- Complies with current responsibilities and requirements of relevant OHS Acts, Regulations, and company policies/procedures.
- Supports the maintenance of all Quality System procedures, administration of the internal audit program, corrective actions, and customer feedback registers to ensure IMS compliance.
- Reports hazards, incidents, and injuries according to legislation and company procedures.
- Participates in programs and assessments aimed at improving health and safety in the workplace.
- Executes all functions in line with the delegation of authority.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (NQF level 4) or related trade qualification
- Qualified artisan
Skills & Knowledge:
- 3-5 years of work experience in a similar environment
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and understand technical data
- Proficiency with hand tools and trade tools
- Experience with harbour cranes, inverter drives, and PLCs
- Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and at heights
- Willingness to travel locally and outside SA for operational requirements
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
