An opportunity exists at Metals Rosslyn and Springs plant for a SHER Officer.
The primary objective for this role is to ensure that a comprehensive integrated Safety, Health, Environmental, and Risk Management system is documented and implemented to minimize the risk of injury to persons, damage to property, and harm to the environment.
This position reports to the Regional SHER Manager and is graded as a Peromnes 09.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with developing, implementing, and enforcing the SHE Management system procedures (ISO and ISO).
- Revise and update aspects and impacts registers for the site annually, including the HIRA register.
- Identify unsafe acts and conditions using the Behaviour-Based Safety System, ensuring action plans and tracking systems are implemented to correct those behaviors.
- Analyze trends to improve safety performance.
- Ensure compliance with SHE processes, procedures, By-laws, and insurance requirements.
- Develop and maintain a SHER Audit Program for internal and external stakeholders, including ISO audits, Willis Blue audits, legal compliance audits, and ASIB/FSIB audits.
- Coordinate and lead internal and external audits, ensuring preparedness, raising NCRs, and managing them effectively.
- Coach teams and management on Behaviour-Based Safety and all SHER legal requirements.
- Chair and participate in incident investigations to identify root causes, propose corrective and preventative measures, and follow up on recommendations.
- Drive awareness programs through SHER initiatives such as toolbox talks, Safety Days, and other platforms.
- Contribute to monthly SHER statistics reporting.
- Oversee SHER administrative duties, including maintaining the site SHER organogram and legal appointments.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A National Diploma in Environment, Health, and/or Safety.
- SAMTRAC / NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent, with occupational SHER training being advantageous.
- Auditing certification in ISO systems.
- Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in monitoring and auditing SHER performances.
- Experience in implementing and driving Environment, Health, Safety, and Risk systems in an FMCG environment.
- Experience in SHER Audit management, including planning and leading audits.
This is a Mid-Senior level, full-time position within the Manufacturing industry, specifically in Packaging and Containers Manufacturing.
