A leading company in the metal production industry is seeking a dedicated Operator for their Copper furnace department in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational support, compliance with quality standards, and overseeing furnace operations. Applicants should have Grade 12 education and preferably some experience in a production environment.

Job Description

The Copper furnace department requires committed, hardworking and trustworthy individual to join the team as an Operator. The successful candidate will report directly to the Production Manager, Quality Manager and Line Manager.

Job Description

The Operator’s primary purpose is to provide support to the Copper Furnace area as dictated by operational requirements.

Responsibilities (NOT Limited To The Below)

  • Compliance with approved SOP’s
  • General operation of the Furnace
  • Oversee the feeding as well as housekeeping of the furnace
  • Constant monitoring of furnace parameters
  • Maintaining set quality standards
  • Assistance and support to service teams during times of maintenance and process interrupts
  • Compliance with OSHA and company policies
  • Maintaining housekeeping during operation
  • Reports and reporting as instructed by supervisor
  • Participating in scheduled meeting and training programs
  • Maintaining stock levels of process consumables
  • Shift hand-over protocols at workstation
  • Meeting planned targets

Qualifying Experience

  • Grade 12
  • Previous experience in a production / process environment will be advantageous to successful candidates
  • Basic mechanical/technical knowledge
  • Bilingual and literate in communication as well as numeracy (calculation requirements)
  • Proactive and quick thinking
