The Role :

Our Cape Town-based team is looking for a Merchant to support the merchandising team. The role focuses on the development of winning product assortments by building rich and well-informed perspectives on local consumer and market dynamics, cultural influences, general trends, and competitive intelligence.

With us you will :

  • Own end-to-end category merchandising management.
  • Create category strategies to win in the market & deliver financial goals.
  • Build assortments at gender / category / channel / account level within regional guidelines to ensure a consistent look and feel.
  • Develop a deep understanding of local socio-political and creative trends and anticipate consumer behaviors to inform regional brand responses.
  • Interpret and incorporate local brief needs into requirements for regional teams.
  • Contribute to all aspects of product management activities.
  • Inform and implement brand strategies.
  • Identify and assist in developing quick response products.
  • Develop an assortment plan that considers all local requirements.
  • Manage risks thoughtfully to capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Monitor and share competitor trends, including pricing strategies across different accounts, channels, and consumer segments.
  • Create a culturally connected, driven, and innovative team focused on winning, with a relentless focus on the consumer and the competition.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
  • Manage processes end-to-end.
  • Be proactive and innovative, with a forward-thinking mindset.
  • Collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams.

What we need :

  • A 4-year degree or relevant diploma.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of work experience as a buyer.
  • Experience in womenswear is advantageous.
