About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and skilled Telecommunications Field Technician to join their growing team in George, Western Cape . This role is essential for deploying and maintaining high-speed broadband services for residential and commercial customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the physical installation, activation, and troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment, ensuring a seamless experience for our client's subscribers. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. You will be working within a defined service area, contributing directly to the expansion of our client's network footprint in the beautiful George region. This is a hands-on role perfect for individuals passionate about technology and customer satisfaction in the vibrant Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment, including modems, routers, and fibre optic termination points, in customer premises.
• Activate and test broadband services to ensure they meet performance specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to network connectivity and service delivery.
• Perform external plant maintenance, including cable splicing and repairs, as needed.
• Educate customers on the use of their new equipment and services.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company standards during site visits and installations.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and time spent using company-provided systems.
• Respond promptly to service calls and ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience as a Field Technician or in a similar technical role within the telecommunications industry.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications technologies, including DSL, Fibre Optics, and Wi-Fi.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely at heights or in confined spaces if required.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, in the George, Western Cape area.
