About the Role

Our client, a leading telecommunications service provider, is actively seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician to join their operational team in Paarl, Western Cape . This hands-on role is vital for ensuring the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer premises and network sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support, diagnosing and resolving network issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in the field. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, modems, switches, and fiber optic termination points.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of network connectivity and service issues for residential and business customers.
• Respond promptly to service calls and resolve technical problems efficiently.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks on network infrastructure and equipment.
• Educate customers on service usage and basic troubleshooting.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records of service calls, installations, and repairs using company systems.
• Manage inventory of parts and equipment effectively.
• Communicate technical information clearly to customers and internal teams.
• Perform upgrades and replacements of faulty equipment.

Requirements

• A relevant technical qualification or certification in Electronics, Telecommunications, or IT.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Field Service Technician or similar role in the telecommunications industry.
• Strong understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN), including installation and troubleshooting of modems, routers, and Wi-Fi equipment.
• Experience with fiber optic installation and testing is highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing ladders and working in various environmental conditions.
• Willingness to travel within the designated service area.
