Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Field Telecoms Technician to join our George-based team. You will install, test, maintain, and repair telecoms equipment at customer sites and within network facilities, ensuring top service delivery across the Western Cape.

The role requires hands-on, detail-oriented professionals with strong fault resolution skills and excellent communication with customers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Telecoms Technician or similar field service role.
• Strong knowledge of copper and fiber optic cabling, DSL and mobile network tech.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Good communication and customer service skills for client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and commission telecoms equipment including fiber optics and CPE.
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot faults reported by customers or monitoring systems; resolve promptly.
• Follow safety regulations and company procedures on site and at height.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Telecoms Technician to join their operations team based in George . This role is crucial for ensuring the physical installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer sites and within our client's network facilities. You will be the frontline representative, providing essential technical support and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and committed to resolving technical challenges efficiently to maintain optimal network performance and customer satisfaction throughout the Western Cape region .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, test, and commission telecommunications equipment, including fiber optic cables, network cabinets, and customer premise equipment (CPE).
• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostic checks on network infrastructure to prevent potential issues.
• Troubleshoot and repair faults reported by customers or network monitoring systems, ensuring timely resolution.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company procedures while working on customer premises and at height.
• Provide technical assistance and training to end-users on equipment operation where necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of all service calls, installations, and repairs performed in the field.

Requirements
