Placements24 is seeking a Telecommunications Field Service Engineer to join our Centurion team to install, maintain, and repair telecoms equipment at client sites. You will handle base stations, transmission gear, and customer premises systems, ensuring minimal service disruption.

The role requires 5+ years in field service, strong RAN and IP networking knowledge, and excellent client communication. A company vehicle and benefits are provided, with flexible hours and on-site work across Gauteng.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Telecommunications Field Service Engineer to join their technical services division based in Centurion. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of telecommunications equipment and systems, including base stations, transmission equipment, and customer premises equipment. You will work on-site at client locations, ensuring seamless network operation and providing critical technical support. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and excellent customer service abilities within the competitive telecoms sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installations, upgrades, and routine maintenance on telecommunications hardware and software.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues reported by clients, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
• Conduct site surveys and prepare technical reports following service calls.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and equipment, ensuring readiness for deployment.
• Collaborate with the central engineering team to elevate complex technical challenges and implement solutions.
• Ensure all work performed adheres to safety regulations and company standards in Centurion.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer in the telecommunications industry.
• Strong knowledge of radio access networks (RAN), microwave links, and IP networking.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment for network troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients in Gauteng.
• Must be able to work flexible hours and occasional standby duties.
