About the Role

Our client, a major telecommunications provider, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Telecom Network Operations Manager to lead their operations team in Soweto, Gauteng . This critical role involves overseeing the day-to-day management of our network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and availability of all telecommunications services. You will be responsible for leading a team of skilled network operations specialists, implementing efficient operational processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong background in network operations management, a deep understanding of telecommunications technologies, and proven leadership capabilities. You will play a key role in maintaining service level agreements (SLAs), managing incidents, and ensuring the security of our network. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the telecommunications network, ensuring high levels of uptime and performance.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network operations engineers and technicians.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions.
• Manage incident response, troubleshooting, and resolution for network outages and performance degradations.
• Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, customer support, and sales, to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Manage network capacity planning and resource allocation.
• Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against threats.
• Oversee the maintenance and upgrade of network equipment and systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Network Operations Center (NOC).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in telecommunications network operations, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of network technologies, including IP routing, switching, wireless networks, and optical transport.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and NMS systems.
• Strong understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks is a plus.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
