Job summary

Phakisa Holdings (Pty) Ltd seeks a Technical Services Engineer to provide expert technical support for premium European kitchen and laundry equipment at Lanseria - Western Suburbs. You will diagnose faults, program equipment, and support technicians and clients, turning field learnings into structured knowledge.

You will work closely with field service technicians, service coordinators, sales and projects, ensuring quality communication and documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic engineering.
• Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Fault finding and technical support for field technicians and customers.

Job Title: Technical Services Engineer

Location: Lanseria - Western Suburbs

Purpose of the role

Work closely with Field service technicians, service coordinators, sales and projects, procurement and stores, and the factory technical teams. Diagnose faults, program equipment, support technicians and clients, and turn field learnings into structured knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Fault finding and technical support
  Second-line support for field technicians, diagnosis of faults, identification of repeat failures, and bench work testing.
• Programming, commissioning and configuration
  Equipment programming, commissioning support, and setup of connected equipment.
• Field service support
  Help prepare for jobs, review service reports, and attend complex calls.
• Client technical communication
  Answer technical queries, provide updates, and offer basic operator guidance.
• Quality and factory communication
  Handle warranty claims, document defects, liaise with factories, and track service bulletins.
• Product data and documentation
  Maintain technical data, create knowledge base, and manage installed base records.
• Product lifecycle management
  Track model changes, support horizon planning, and provide input for new products.
• Spare parts planning
  Identify parts, recommend stock planning, and suggest critical-spares kits.
• Value engineering and sourcing
  Find alternatives, evaluate suppliers, and present options with cost comparisons.

Qualifications and experience

Required

• Diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic engineering
• Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings
• Valid driver's licence
• Computer literacy

Advantageous

• Hands-on experience with commercial equipment
• Understanding of electronic controls and PLCs
• Experience with ERP systems
• Second language advantageous

Experience by level

• Junior: recent graduate or up to 2 years' experience
• Intermediate: 2 to 5 years' technical or service experience
