About the Role

Our client, a major mining corporation, is seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager to drive operational improvement initiatives within their Rustenburg operations. This challenging role focuses on optimizing mining processes, implementing new technologies, and enhancing productivity and safety across various mining sites in the North West province. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in mining engineering or operations, coupled with strong project management expertise and a results-oriented approach. You will be instrumental in leading cross-functional teams to achieve tangible improvements and contribute to the company's strategic growth objectives in this key region.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategic projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing safety in mining environments. Lead multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, geologists, and operational staff, to achieve project goals. Manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and resources effectively, ensuring successful delivery within agreed parameters. Identify and assess operational risks, developing and implementing mitigation strategies. Collaborate closely with site management, technical specialists, and external consultants to ensure project success. Oversee the implementation and adoption of new technologies and best practices within mining operations. Ensure compliance with all mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies pertinent to Rustenburg. Prepare and present comprehensive project reports and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical field. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project management within the mining industry. Proven experience in operational improvement projects, process optimization, or technology implementation in a mining context. Strong understanding of underground and/or open-pit mining operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in project management software and data analysis tools. Experience with change management processes is highly desirable. Familiarity with the mining landscape in the North West province is a significant advantage. PMP or similar project management certification is preferred.
