Job summary

Placements24 in Sandton, Gauteng, is seeking a skilled Power Systems Engineer to design, analyze, and implement robust electrical power systems for generation, transmission, and distribution networks.

You will perform load flow, short circuit, stability, and protection studies using PSS/E, ETAP, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory, while developing equipment specs and contributing to grid planning. A strong team player with a Pr. Eng. registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in power systems engineering.
• Proficiency in power system simulation software and protection/automation concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze electrical power systems, including grid-connected and off-grid solutions.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, stability, and protection studies using industry-standard software.
• Develop technical specifications for power system equipment and infrastructure.
• Contribute to the planning and optimization of power generation and transmission networks.
• Ensure power systems comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex power system issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, construction engineers, and grid operators.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in power systems engineering.
