Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Engineer for its team in Klerksdorp, North West. The role focuses on design, analysis, and operation of electrical power infrastructure, with emphasis on grid stability and renewable integration. You will coordinate protection schemes and oversee project execution.

Ideal candidates hold a B.Eng in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with 5+ years’ experience and proficiency in ETAP, PSS/E or DIgSILENT. Pr.Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems specialty.
• Minimum of 5 years in electrical power systems engineering.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT).
• Solid understanding of protection principles and relay settings.
• Experience with grid codes and utility interconnection requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with renewable energy integration is a plus.
• Pr.Eng. registration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze power systems including generation, transmission and distribution.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit and protection coordination studies.
• Develop specifications for transformers, switchgear and generators.
• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of components.
• Troubleshoot power system performance and reliability issues.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
• Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Investigate improvements to enhance efficiency and stability.
• Contribute to planning of future power infrastructure.
