Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer - Power Systems in Mahikeng, North West to lead power system studies and design for infrastructure projects. You will conduct load-flow, short-circuit and protection coordination studies using ETAP, PSS/E or DIgSILENT, and develop schematics for generation, transmission and distribution systems.

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in electrical power system design and analysis
• Proven experience with power system analysis software packages (ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT)
• Strong understanding of power system protection principles and equipment
• Experience with renewable energy integration, grid codes and distributed generation is advantageous
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and ability to read complex engineering drawings and specs
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is desirable

Responsabilidades

• Perform detailed power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, transient stability, protection coordination) using specialized software
• Design and develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings for power systems
• Specify transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, cables and protection relays
• Develop protection and control schemes for substations and networks
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, SANS and best practices
• Review submittals and support construction and commissioning phases
• Collaborate with project managers and other disciplines for integrated delivery
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies and design documentation
• Stay updated on new technologies in power system engineering
• Mentor junior engineers on power system topics
