The role requires a minimum of 6 years in electrical power system design and analysis, with proficiency in ETAP, PSS/E, and DIgSILENT. Pr. Eng. is desirable and eligibility to work in South Africa is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems focus.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant power systems design and analysis experience.
• Proficiency with power system analysis software packages.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed power system analysis: load flow, short circuit, transient stability, protection coordination.
• Design and develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and layouts for generation, transmission and distribution.
• Specify transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, cables, and protection relays.
• Develop protection and control schemes for substations and power networks.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, SANS and best practices.
• Review contractor submittals and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines for integrated delivery.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and design documentation.
• Stay updated on new technologies in power system engineering.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
