Placements24 seeks a Principal Electrical Power Engineer to lead high-voltage system design, analysis, and project delivery in Rustenburg, North West. You will guide technical teams, perform complex studies, and develop equipment specifications for transformers, switchgear and relays.

The role demands 10+ years of experience, a relevant Master's or PhD, and strong leadership and communication skills. Pr.Eng is highly desired; renewable integration experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in electrical power engineering is required or highly desirable.
• 10+ years of experience in design and analysis of electrical power systems.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, communication and project management skills.
• Experience with renewable energy integration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and engineering of high-voltage power systems including substations and transmission networks.
• Perform detailed power flow, short-circuit, and stability studies using advanced simulation software.
• Develop technical specifications for power equipment like transformers, switchgear, and protective relays.
• Provide expert technical consultation to project teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and commissioning of power system projects.
• Ensure adherence to national and international electrical codes and safety regulations.
• Mentor junior engineers and review work products for accuracy and quality.
• Contribute to long-term strategies for power system upgrades and expansion.
• Stay current with smart grids and renewable energy integration technologies.
