Job summary

Placements24 invites a Mine Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical infrastructure and power systems for mining operations in Randburg, Gauteng. The role centers on safe, reliable operation of high/low voltage equipment, and requires deep experience in mining environments.

You will lead maintenance programs, supervise technicians, and ensure adherence to SA safety regulations. Based in Randburg with site inspections as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA or eligibility to register.
• Minimum of 6 years of electrical engineering experience, with at least 3 years in mining/heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, distribution and protection.
• Experience with high and medium voltage systems.
• Familiarity with PLCs, VSDs and motor control centers.
• Understanding of SA electrical safety regulations (OHS Act, Mine Health and Safety Act).
• Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership, communication and project management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain underground and surface electrical infrastructure incl. substations, cables and boards.
• Ensure safe and reliable operation of electrical equipment (motors, generators, control systems).
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot faults and implement effective repair solutions.
• Oversee electrical project installations and commissioning per design specs and safety standards.
• Conduct electrical safety audits and ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
• Manage electrical spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
• Mentor and supervise junior electrical technicians and artisans.
• Stay updated on new electrical technologies and best practices in mining.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance schedules and budgets for Randburg operations.
