Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Electrical Engineer to manage electrical infrastructure, power systems, and maintenance across underground and surface operations in Randburg, Gauteng. Eng. registration or eligibility, a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, and at least 6 years of experience with 3 in mining/heavy industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA or eligibility to register.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in mining or heavy industrial.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, distribution, and protection.
• Experience with high and medium voltage systems.
• Familiarity with PLC systems, VSDs, and motor control centers.
• Understanding of South African electrical safety regulations (OHS Act, Mine Health and Safety Act).
• Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain underground and surface electrical infrastructure.
• Ensure safe and reliable operation of motors, generators, and control systems.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot faults and implement repair solutions promptly.
• Oversee electrical project installations and commissioning.
• Conduct electrical safety audits and ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
• Manage electrical spare parts inventory and procurement.
• Mentor and supervise junior technicians and artisans.
• Stay updated on new electrical technologies relevant to mining.
• Prepare technical reports, schedules, and budget forecasts for Randburg operations.
