Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a key mining operation near Soweto, Gauteng. You will lead electrical maintenance for heavy mining equipment, drive reliability improvements, and mentor technicians on site.

The role emphasizes diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and safe, compliant execution in a dynamic mining environment. On-site work in Gauteng with growth opportunities is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years in heavy industrial/mining electrical maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs, VSDs.
• Experience diagnosing faults in large mobile equipment and fixed plant.
• Pr Eng/ECSA desirable; willingness to work on-site near Soweto, Gauteng.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical maintenance and repair of mining equipment (excavators, haul trucks, crushers, conveyors).
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex electrical faults in heavy machinery and plant equipment.
• Design, install, and commission electrical modifications to improve performance and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations and company policies.
• Manage electrical spare parts inventory and procurement strategies.
• Liaise with manufacturers and service providers for technical support and warranty claims.
• Mentor junior technicians and maintenance staff.
• Analyze equipment performance data and identify optimization opportunities.
• Participate in root-cause analysis investigations for electrical failures.
