Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng.) is mandatory
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with heavy industrial/mining background
• Proven experience with high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) systems, substations and power distribution
• Experience with project management and contract administration
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

Responsabilités

• Design, install, and commission electrical systems for mining operations, including power distribution, MCCs, and control panels
• Oversee maintenance and repair of transformers, switchgear, motors, and generators
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, codes, and standards (OHS Act, SANS)
• Conduct electrical hazard analyses and implement risk mitigation strategies
• Manage electrical projects from scope definition, budgeting, contractor management, and execution
• Provide technical expertise to operations and maintenance teams
• Develop and implement strategies to improve reliability and energy efficiency
• Review and approve electrical designs and drawings prepared by consultants or internal teams
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians
• Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide timely solutions
