Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA or eligibility to register.
• Minimum of 6 years of electrical engineering experience, with at least 3 years in mining/heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, distribution and protection.
• Experience with high and medium voltage systems.
• Familiarity with PLCs, VSDs and motor control centers.
• Understanding of SA electrical safety regulations (OHS Act, Mine Health and Safety Act).
• Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership, communication and project management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain underground and surface electrical infrastructure incl. substations, cables and boards.
• Ensure safe and reliable operation of electrical equipment (motors, generators, control systems).
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot faults and implement effective repair solutions.
• Oversee electrical project installations and commissioning per design specs and safety standards.
• Conduct electrical safety audits and ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
• Manage electrical spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
• Mentor and supervise junior electrical technicians and artisans.
• Stay updated on new electrical technologies and best practices in mining.
• Prepare technical reports, maintenance schedules and budgets for Randburg operations.

About the Role

Our client, a major mining group, is seeking a highly competent Mine Electrical Engineer to oversee the electrical infrastructure and power systems for their operations in Randburg, Gauteng . This role is critical for ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of all electrical equipment and power distribution networks supporting mining activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering within an industrial or mining context, with a strong focus on power systems, maintenance, and regulatory compliance. You will be a key contributor to maintaining operational continuity and safety in a demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain all underground and surface electrical infrastructure, including substations, power cables, and distribution boards.
