Placements24 is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer for its Randburg R&D team to design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for cutting-edge devices. You will architect firmware solutions and work closely with hardware and software engineers to deliver robust systems.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in embedded firmware, strong C/C++ skills, and hands-on RTOS experience. The role involves RTOS integration, protocol implementations, and driving quality across design and testing phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, CS or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Proficiency in C and C++.
• Experience with RTOS and microcontroller architectures.
• Familiarity with wireless protocols is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and debug embedded firmware for microcontrollers.
• Implement RTOS and device drivers across platforms.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to align requirements.
• Document designs, tests, and user manuals.
• Optimize firmware for performance, power, and memory.
• Implement communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi).
• Participate in code reviews and mentor teammates.
• Troubleshoot firmware issues reported by QA or customers.
• Stay current with new firmware technologies.
• Contribute to architectural design of future projects.
