Placements24 is seeking a Senior Field Operations Technician to join our telecommunications client in Klerksdorp, North West. You will install, maintain, and repair telecom infrastructure across customer sites to ensure high quality network services.

Qualifications

• NTC 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Field Technician in telecommunications.
• Experience with fiber optics, copper cabling and wireless technologies.
• Strong TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP knowledge.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Proficiency in using testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Valid driver?s license with a clean record.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform installations, configurations, and troubleshooting of telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, fiber optic cables, and wireless access points.
• Conduct routine maintenance and diagnostic tests on network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
• Respond to service calls and resolve technical issues promptly and efficiently in the field.
• Diagnose and repair faults in telecommunications lines and equipment.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and time spent.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians.
• Collaborate with the network operations center (NOC) to resolve complex issues.
• Manage inventory of tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
