Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Telecommunications Field Technician or similar role.
• Experience with fiber optic installation and splicing, including OTDR testing.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues related to copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, optical transmission systems, and base stations.
• Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to plan and execute network installations and upgrades.
• Repair and replace faulty equipment and components according to technical specifications.
• Ensure all work complies with company safety policies, industry standards, and local regulations.
• Manage and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
• Provide timely and accurate reports on work performed, including site visit logs and issue resolution details.

About the Role

Our client, a leading telecommunications infrastructure company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Telecommunications Field Technician to join their team based in Polokwane. This role is essential for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure across the Limpopo province. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of our client's networks, including fiber optic cables, transmission equipment, and wireless systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with exceptional technical skills, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in diverse field environments. This is a field-based position requiring regular travel within the Polokwane region and surrounding areas.

• Proven experience with fiber optic installation and splicing, including OTDR testing.
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications hardware, including transmission, routing, and switching equipment.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues related to copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Experience with wireless technologies (e.g., cellular, Wi-Fi) is a plus.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Excellent physical condition and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
