Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its on-site team in Rustenburg, North West. You will oversee electrical systems, drive preventative maintenance, and lead a team of engineers and technicians in a demanding power generation facility.

The role focuses on high-voltage equipment, rotating machinery, and robust power distribution. A Pr.Eng registration is highly desirable, with a strong safety and reliability mindset and a track record of operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering within power generation or heavy industrial environments.
• Proven experience with high-voltage equipment, rotating machinery, and power distribution systems.
• Strong understanding of power plant operations, maintenance practices, and safety procedures.
• Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with SCADA and control systems is advantageous.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a challenging, on-site industrial setting.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment within the power plant, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and control systems.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment longevity.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Conduct performance analysis and recommend upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Lead and mentor junior electrical engineers and technicians.
• Manage electrical projects, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and maintenance procedures.
• Participate in plant commissioning, start-up, and shutdown activities.
