Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a focus on grid integration in Rustenburg, North West. You will lead the design lifecycle for renewable energy projects, from concept through detailed engineering and construction support.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with 5+ years of grid-connected design experience, proficiency in ETAP/PSS/E/DigSilent, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with power systems specialization.
• 5+ years of professional experience in grid-connected design.
• Experience with renewable energy projects (solar/wind) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for grid-connected renewables and power infra.
• Conduct load flow, short circuit, and harmonic analyses using industry tools.
• Design protection schemes, grounding, and earthing layouts.
• Prepare technical specs for switchgear, transformers, and cabling.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes and standards (NRS 097).
• Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and clients on requirements.
• Create single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Perform design reviews and peer checks for quality control.
• Stay updated on grid integration technologies and best practices.
