Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Infrastructure Engineer for Rustenburg, North West, South Africa. You will lead design, installation, maintenance, and upgrading of HV/MV electrical infrastructure across mining sites, ensuring uptime and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 days of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a lead or supervisory role within mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Extensive knowledge of HV and MV power systems, distribution, and protection.
• Experience with designing and managing electrical infrastructure for underground and surface mining operations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, and PSS/E.
• Strong understanding of South African mining regulations (OHS Act) and SANS standards.
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and travel to mine sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and implementation of electrical infrastructure projects including substations and HV systems.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and upgrade programs for all electrical equipment.
• Develop and enforce electrical safety procedures and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage electrical engineering teams, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Conduct root cause analysis for electrical failures and implement preventative measures.
• Prepare project budgets and manage contractor performance to meet timelines and budgets.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety for seamless service integration.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve reliability, performance, and safety.
• Develop and maintain accurate electrical drawings, docs, and asset records.
• Champion safety and continuous improvement within the electrical function.
