Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Randburg, Gauteng to lead electrical systems for large-scale commercial projects. You will conceive, design, and oversee implementation while ensuring compliance with building codes, energy standards, and client requirements.

Role involves coordinating with architects, engineers, and contractors, reviewing drawings and RFIs, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in electrical design for commercial buildings.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Amtech.
• Experience with power distribution, emergency power, UPS, and lighting design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for commercial building projects from concept to completion.
• Develop detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations for power distribution, lighting, earthing, and low-voltage systems.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS codes, CIBSE guidelines, and other relevant standards.
• Conduct load calculations, short-circuit studies, and equipment selection.
• Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and other project stakeholders.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and conduct site inspections during construction phases.
• Manage project timelines and budgets related to electrical design and implementation.
• Utilize design software including AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Amtech.
• Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers and design staff.
• Stay updated on new technologies, materials, and best practices in electrical engineering design.

• Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and electrical design calculation software.
• Experience with power distribution systems, emergency power, UPS systems, and lighting design.
• Strong understanding of project management principles.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-facing skills.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is highly preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects concurrently in Randburg .
