About the Role

Our client, an established architectural and engineering consultancy, is seeking a talented Electrical Systems Designer to contribute to their high-profile building projects in the Randburg, Gauteng area. This role involves the conceptualization, design, and specification of electrical systems for commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. You will work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient building designs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical building codes, lighting design, power distribution, and low-voltage systems, coupled with proficiency in relevant design software. We are looking for an innovative and detail-oriented designer committed to creating functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing electrical solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs and specifications for building services, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, and lightning protection.
• Prepare detailed electrical layouts, schematics, and single-line diagrams using CAD software.
• Select appropriate electrical equipment and components, considering performance, cost, and maintainability.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant South African national standards (SANS), building regulations, and client requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, including site inspections and resolving design queries.
• Conduct lighting calculations and energy efficiency assessments.
• Stay updated on the latest technologies, standards, and best practices in electrical building services design.
• Contribute to project meetings and present design concepts to clients and project teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design for building services.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP for electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of SANS 10142, SANS 10114, and other relevant electrical installation codes.
• Experience with lighting design software (e.g., DIALux) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with power system analysis and load calculations.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to manage design tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Residing in or willing to commute to Randburg, Gauteng .
