Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Klerksdorp, North West. You will lead the electrical design lifecycle for commercial and industrial facilities, ensuring compliance with SANS, safety standards, and project timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on C&I projects.
• Proven expertise in designing power distribution systems, low and medium voltage.
• Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Amtech and ETAP.
• Thorough knowledge of South African electrical codes, SANS regulations, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design for commercial and industrial building projects, including offices, retail spaces, factories, and warehouses.
• Develop detailed electrical system designs, including power distribution, lighting systems, standby power generation, and fire alarm systems.
• Produce comprehensive design documentation, such as electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, and specifications.
• Perform electrical load calculations, fault current analysis, and protection coordination studies.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant SANS regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Liaise with clients, architects, mechanical engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless project integration.
• Review and approve shop drawings, equipment submittals, and respond to site queries.
• Conduct site inspections and provide electrical engineering support during construction and commissioning phases.
• Mentor junior electrical engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of company design standards and procedures.
