About the Role

Our client, a national transport and logistics company with a significant presence across South Africa, is actively seeking a highly organized and experienced Remote Truck Driver Coordinator. This position is fully remote, allowing you to manage driver schedules and operations from any location within South Africa, with a focus on supporting routes originating from or passing through the Soweto, Gauteng, ZA region. You will be the primary point of contact for drivers, ensuring adherence to schedules, compliance with regulations, and efficient communication. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of the trucking industry, and the ability to manage multiple drivers and tasks simultaneously in a remote setting. This role is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and driver satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the schedules of a fleet of truck drivers, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
• Serve as the main point of contact for drivers, providing instructions, support, and addressing inquiries.
• Monitor driver progress and adherence to routes using GPS tracking and communication systems.
• Ensure drivers comply with all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse, and customer service teams regarding shipment status and any issues.
• Assist in resolving on-road issues and emergencies, providing timely solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of driver hours, delivery confirmations, and vehicle logs.
• Support the onboarding and training of new drivers from a coordination perspective.
• Process and verify driver-submitted documentation, such as delivery receipts and fuel logs.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of driver coordination processes and communication protocols.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in dispatch, driver coordination, or a similar role within the transport or logistics industry.
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple drivers and their schedules effectively.
• Strong understanding of trucking operations, routes, and common challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drivers.
• Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems and general computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, essential for managing remote operations.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Familiarity with South African road transport regulations is an advantage.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable remote work environment.
