Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join its remote-first engineering team in Polokwane region. You will design, analyze, and optimize electrical power systems for grid integration, renewables, and energy storage, guiding technical initiatives across projects.

This role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and delivering reliable, efficient systems, with exposure to PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD and cutting-edge simulation tools.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• 8+ years of experience in power system analysis, design, and operations.
• In-depth knowledge of power system dynamics, protection, and control strategies.
• Proficiency in power system simulation software PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, analysis, and simulation of complex power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
• Develop and implement strategies for grid integration, renewable energy sources, and energy storage solutions.
• Conduct power flow, fault, stability, and harmonic analyses using industry-standard software tools.
• Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of power systems, identifying and mitigating risks and operational issues.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure compliance and successful project outcomes for remote operations.
