Placements24 is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer in South Africa to lead grid modernization projects with a remote-first approach. The role focuses on advanced studies, DER integration, and smart grid technologies, with a strong emphasis on accurate modeling and stakeholder collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in power systems, a master's degree, and proficiency with PSS/E/ETAP/PSCAD.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus.
• 7+ years of experience in power system analysis, grid planning, or smart grid tech.
• Strong knowledge of SA grid codes and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced power system studies (load flow, stability, short-circuit, contingencies).
• Develop strategies for grid modernization using AMI, SCADA, and ADMS.
• Analyze impact of DERs, renewables, and energy storage on grid operations.
• Design and optimize grid infrastructure for reliability and efficiency.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
