Placements24 in South Africa seeks an exceptional Lead Power Systems Engineer to spearhead the design, analysis, and implementation of large-scale power systems. This remote-first role offers flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa while leading a team of engineers and collaborating with international stakeholders.

You will oversee power flow, protection schemes, and model development, ensuring compliance with standards and driving projects from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• 10+ years in power systems engineering, lead role.
• Proficiency with power system analysis tools such as PSS/E, ETAP and PSCAD.

Responsabilités

• Lead design and development of generation, transmission, and distribution power systems.
• Perform advanced power flow, stability, and short‑circuit analyses.
• Develop protection schemes and relay coordination for substations and networks.
• Specify major electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and generators.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of power systems engineers.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders on project requirements.
• Develop and maintain power system models and simulations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant national and international power system standards.
• Contribute to strategic planning and roadmaps for power system solutions.
• Oversee commissioning and testing of power system installations.
