Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer for a fully remote role. You will develop, implement, and oversee compliance programs aligned with SA financial regulations, guiding the business through risk assessments and regulatory changes.

The ideal candidate will hold a law/finance/BA degree with a postgraduate compliance qualification, 5+ years in the sector, and proven ability to communicate complex requirements while working independently in a remote setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, or related field.
• Postgraduate compliance qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years in compliance, risk within financial services.
• In-depth knowledge of SA regulations (FAIS, FICA, POPIA, Companies Act).
• Experience developing and implementing compliance frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
• Proficiency in compliance software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive compliance programs across the organization.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary updates.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments and audits to identify non-compliance.
• Investigate compliance breaches and report findings with corrective actions.
• Provide training on regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Liaise with FSCA, SARB and external auditors.
• Manage regulatory filings and reporting obligations.
• Develop and manage key compliance metrics and dashboards.
• Foster a strong compliance culture throughout the organization.
