Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Compliance Officer to lead our remote legal and compliance function within the financial services sector. The role focuses on developing and enforcing policies, conducting risk assessments, and guiding staff on regulatory requirements to ensure strict adherence.

Ideal candidates will hold a relevant degree, favorable professional certifications, and at least six years of progressive experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCM) desirable.
• Minimum 6 years in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within banking/financial services.
• In-depth knowledge of POPIA, FICA, AML/KYC.
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to operations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills; autonomous remote worker.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures across all business units.
• Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments to identify compliance breaches and improvements.
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations and update controls and processes accordingly.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance matters and foster ethical conduct.
• Investigate and resolve compliance issues and report findings to senior management.
