Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Compliance Officer with a strong legal background to join our remote-first legal and compliance team in South Africa. This role is pivotal for maintaining regulatory adherence and ethical conduct across the organization.

You will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive compliance programs, monitor legislative changes, conduct audits, train staff, and liaise with regulators, helping shape the company's risk management framework.

Qualifications

• A legal qualification (LLB or equivalent) and a minimum of 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or legal roles.
• Extensive knowledge of relevant South African laws and regulations (e.g., POPIA, Companies Act, King IV).
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective compliance programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's compliance framework and policies.
• Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory requirements, assessing their impact.
• Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance gaps.
• Provide expert advice and training to employees on compliance matters and ethical conduct.
• Investigate potential compliance breaches and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and manage external compliance audits.
