Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous HR Compliance Officer for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will develop and monitor compliance programs, conduct audits, and advise HR and management on regulatory matters to ensure lawful, ethical practices across the institution.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in HR compliance, deep knowledge of SA labor laws, and strong communication skills to translate complex regulations into actionable policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in HR compliance or labor law, with a strong focus on South African legislation.
• Thorough understanding of South African labor laws and regulations.
• Experience in conducting HR audits and developing compliance strategies.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal requirements clearly.
• Proficiency in HRIS and document management systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain confidentiality in a remote setting.
• Experience in the education sector is a plus.
• Strong ethical judgment and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HR compliance programs and policies.
• Ensure adherence to all South African labor laws, including the BCEA, EEA, LRA, and BBBEE.
• Conduct regular internal audits of HR processes and documentation to identify and rectify compliance gaps.
• Monitor changes in labor legislation and regulatory requirements, updating policies and procedures accordingly.
• Provide expert guidance and training to HR staff and management on compliance matters.
• Manage and maintain all required HR compliance documentation and records.
• Assist with external regulatory audits and inspections.
• Investigate and report on potential compliance violations.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees and managers.
• Advise on best practices for recruitment, employment contracts, and termination procedures to ensure legal compliance.
• Contribute to the development of a strong compliance culture within the organization.
• Stay informed about industry-specific HR regulations and guidelines.
