Job summary

Placements24 seeks an HR Compliance and Policy Specialist to ensure adherence to SA labor laws and company policies in a fully remote role. You will review, update, and implement HR policies, conduct audits, and guide regulatory requirements across the organization from East London, Eastern Cape.

The role emphasizes meticulous policy work, training delivery, and reporting obligations in a compliant, fair workplace.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, law or related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years of HR experience with strong compliance and policy development.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labor law and employment regulations.
• Experience developing and implementing HR policies and conducting compliance audits.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear legal guidance.
• Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.
• Strong ethical judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with South African labor laws (BCEA, LRA, EEA).
• Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures and communicate them clearly.
• Conduct regular internal compliance audits.
• Investigate and address compliance issues or risks.
• Stay current with legislative changes and advise HR/management on impacts.
• Develop and deliver training on HR compliance and policies.
• Manage administration of the employment equity plan and reporting.
• Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and documentation.
• Advise on fair disciplinary and grievance procedures with legal defensibility.
• Support the HR team in fostering ethical practices and a culture of compliance.
