Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly qualified Process Safety Engineer to bolster the safety division within a petrochemical context. This fully remote SA position focuses on hazard identification, risk assessment, and robust safety management systems across chemical processes.

The role requires leading PHAs (HAZOP/HAZID), developing PSM programs, performing risk assessments, and investigating incidents to prevent recurrence, with emphasis on zero-harm culture.

Qualifications

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in process safety engineering in petrochemical/chemical sector.
• Experience leading PHAs (HAZOP/HAZID).
• Deep knowledge of PSM elements and application.
• Familiarity with API, NFPA, OSHA codes/standards.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Perform risk assessments and identify hazards in chemical processes.
• Develop and review safety procedures, emergency plans, and operating guidelines.
• Investigate process safety incidents and determine root causes.
• Ensure compliance with national and international safety standards and regulations.
• Provide technical process safety training to staff.
• Audit safety systems and identify improvement opportunities.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and trends.
