Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Chemical Process Safety Specialist to join a global team from anywhere in South Africa. You\'ll develop, implement, and oversee PSM programs to ensure safe operation of chemical facilities, with emphasis on hazard identification and risk reduction across sites.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in process safety, deep PSM knowledge, and proficiency in PHA methods. Excellent communication and ability to influence safety culture remotely are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering or related safety field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety within chemical/petrochemical industries.
• Strong knowledge of PSM regulations and best practices.
• Proficiency in conducting PHA methodologies (HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA).
• Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs aligned with international standards.
• Conduct process hazard analyses (PHA) including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA.
• Develop and implement risk reduction strategies and ensure their execution.
• Provide expert guidance on safety aspects of process design, modifications, and operations.
• Review and approve safety-critical procedures and MOC processes.
• Investigate process safety incidents and recommend corrective actions.
