Placements24 in South Africa is looking for a skilled Helpdesk Technician to join our remote IT services team. You will provide timely support to internal users and external clients, troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, and maintain systems from a home office.

The role requires clear communication, proactive ticket handling, and the ability to explain technical details to non-technical users.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Helpdesk Technician or similar IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows, macOS), and common software applications.
• Experience with network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Familiarity with remote support tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) are a plus.
• Experience working in a remote support role is highly desirable.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office space.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
• Respond to helpdesk tickets and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software, and peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve network connectivity problems.
• Assist users with password resets and account management.
• Document troubleshooting steps and solutions in the knowledge base.
• Perform regular system updates and maintenance.
• Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
• Provide remote training to users on new software or systems.
• Contribute to the improvement of IT support processes and procedures.
