Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Cybersecurity Threat Analyst to join a remote-first SOC supporting operations based in Pretoria. You will identify, analyze, and respond to cyber threats, leading threat intelligence efforts and developing strategies to defend against sophisticated attacks.

Responsibilities include monitoring alerts, analyzing threats, investigating breaches, and producing intelligence for security teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in cybersecurity operations or threat analysis.
• Proficiency analyzing security logs, network traffic, and malware samples.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and threat intelligence frameworks.
• Strong understanding of operating systems, networking, and common attack techniques.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and threat intelligence feeds for potential incidents.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of cyber threats, malware and attack vectors.
• Investigate breaches and provide incident response and forensic analysis.
• Develop and refine threat detection rules for monitoring tools.
• Produce threat landscape reports and actionable intelligence for teams.
• Collaborate with threat hunters and incident responders to improve security posture.
