Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dynamic Lead SOC Analyst to spearhead remote cybersecurity monitoring and incident response for a global operation, based from Stellenbosch or anywhere remote.

The role requires a bachelor’s in cybersecurity or related field and 7+ years in SOC operations, with proven team leadership and deep SIEM/EDR expertise. You will mentor analysts, develop playbooks, and drive threat intelligence initiatives to maintain a proactive security posture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in SOC operations, incident response, or threat analysis.
• Proven experience in leading or supervising a team of security analysts.
• Deep understanding of SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, EDR solutions, and threat hunting techniques.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Security Operations Center (SOC).
• Oversee the monitoring of security alerts, threat detection, and incident response activities.
• Mentor and guide junior SOC analysts, providing technical expertise and support.
• Develop and refine SOC playbooks, procedures, and escalation protocols.
• Analyze threat intelligence to proactively identify and mitigate emerging security risks.
