Job summary

Karen Tupper Recruitment invites applications for a Receptionist / Switchboard role at a prestigious Winelands estate in the Western Cape. You will warmly welcome guests, manage the switchboard, and provide information about the estate and experiences.

Ideal candidates have Grade 12, a hospitality certificate, 1–2 years reception experience, fluent English, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 required; hospitality certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests with warmth and sincerity at the reception area.
• Provide information about the estate, facilities, art and experiences.
• Conduct estate tours for guests.
• Operate telephone and switchboard; refer calls as needed.
• Compile and update data related to the reception area.
• Distribute information across departments; communicate restaurant bookings.
• Keep management informed of guest concerns.

Job description

• Ensure guests are acknowledged, with kindness, warmth and sincerity, when entering and departing the reception area;
• Engage with guests providing information related to the estate, the facilities, art & experiences;
• Conduct estate tours with guests;
• Operate telephone and switchboard service for all calls when required;
• Refer calls & provide assistance to the appropriate person depending on the nature of the call;
• Compile and update data related to the area of activity;
• Complete and distribute information that needs to be communicated around the estate;
• Ensure that lunch and dinner booking sheets from the restaurant gets communicated to the appropriate departments;
• Keep management informed of all concerns that guests raise.

Main requirements:

• Grade 12, hospitality certificate will be a plus;
• Preferably 1- 2 years previous reception experience;
• Fluent in English with excellent written & oral communication skills;
• Able to work in a team;
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
• Availability to work within Hospitality operating hours (e.g., evenings, public holidays, weekends);
• Comfortable in dealing with very distinguished clientele;
• Ability to work long hours without fatigue
• Must be well-presented and have an enthusiastic personality.
