Job summary

Placements24 in Welkom is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead urban development and infrastructure projects. You will guide technical direction, mentor teams, and act as main client contact, with on-site focus and occasional site visits.

You will manage complex road, drainage, water, and sewer designs for new residential and commercial areas, ensuring compliance with SA standards while driving sustainability and growth in the Free State.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Proven leadership and project management experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential.
• Experience with urban development and infrastructure projects preferred.
• Knowledge of SA planning regulations and environmental policies advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and planning of complex civil engineering projects including roads, drainage, water reticulation and sewer systems for urban developments.
• Oversee preparation of drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Manage project teams, provide technical guidance and performance oversight.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies and impact assessments.
• Liaise with clients, municipal authorities, contractors and other consultants.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations and environmental policies.
• Review and approve designs and calculations submitted by team members.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and identify future business opportunities.
• Contribute to business development and proposal preparation.
