Job summary

Placements24 in Midrand, Gauteng, is seeking a Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer to lead design and delivery of major urban infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage, water, and sanitation. The role requires strong technical leadership and client liaison.

You will mentor junior engineers, ensure compliance with SANS and municipal guidelines, and collaborate with architects, planners and environmental consultants across Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Technologist (Pr Tech Eng).
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil infrastructure design and project management.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in urban environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex civil infrastructure projects, from conceptualization through to construction.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments to inform project planning.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents in accordance with relevant standards.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, urban planners, and environmental consultants.
• Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to facilitate project progress and approvals.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses using industry-standard software.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
