Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Payroll Accountant to manage payroll operations for its remote team, supporting Upington and other South African operations. The role emphasizes accurate processing, compliance with SA legislation, and confidential handling of payroll data from a remote capacity.

You will oversee end-to-end payroll, ensure timely submissions to PAYE, UIF, and SDL, and collaborate with finance to reconcile data and prepare reports for management.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in accounting or related field.
• At least 4 years of payroll processing experience.
• Strong knowledge of SA payroll legislation, tax, UIF/SDL.
• Proficiency with VIP/Sage Payroll and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end payroll processing cycle for all employees.
• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, salaries, overtime, deductions, and benefits.
• Manage statutory deductions, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL, ensuring timely submission to relevant authorities.
• Reconcile payroll data with general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and submit payroll reports to management and external bodies.
• Ensure compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and other relevant legislation.
• Manage employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain confidential employee payroll records.
• Assist with payroll audits and provide necessary documentation.
• Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.

About the Role

Our client, a national logistics and supply chain company with a growing presence, is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Payroll Accountant to manage their payroll operations. Based remotely but supporting operations including those in Upington, Northern Cape , this role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, and managing payroll-related accounting functions.
