Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Payroll Accountant for a remote-first role based in Mossel Bay. You will manage payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with SA legislation and company policies from a home office.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of payroll processing experience, knowledge of PAYE, UIF, SDL, and proficiency in VIP/Sage Payroll and Excel. This role offers flexible remote work and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years hands-on payroll processing and administration.
• Thorough knowledge of South African payroll legislation (PAYE, UIF, SDL).
• Proficiency in VIP Payroll and Sage Payroll; strong Excel skills.
• CPP or similar certification is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payroll for all employees accurately and on time.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, tax laws and deductions.
• Manage employee data in the payroll system (new hires, terminations, changes).
• Process and reconcile payroll journals, including statutory payments and deductions.
• Respond to employee queries regarding payroll and benefits in a professional manner.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management.
• Liaise with SARS and other regulatory bodies as required.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices.
• Assist with payroll audits and reconciliations.
• Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and systems.
